Hugh & Ina

Teachers

Hugh and Ina were part of our first tentmaking team in East Asia. Hugh’s PhD is in chemistry and Ina’s in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Hugh came from Malaysia, and Ina from Singapore. They invested a total of ten years on the field.

Ina helped launch a training program for local university English teachers in the capital city, and won a government award for excellence in teaching. But what they gave their heart and soul to was reaching students on campus. Students were frequent guests in their little apartment, where they enjoyed home cooked food and engaging conversations.

Hugh and Ina discipled many students, including a student who won a fellowship to study under a famous professor in Canada. Today, this woman and her husband are leaders of an underground faith community. As an associate professor directing a Masters’ Program, she had the opportunity to offer a popular general education course on “The Bible as Literature”. Hugh & Ina's fruit extends beyond their time on the field.
